Superman Swirl

I’m a big Superman fan. There’s just something about him being the strongest guy with no tragic background who just wants to help. I love how he’s an alien who is often more compassionate and human than we are ourselves. He helps where he can, in just about any way he can, and that resonates with me and the way I want to live my life. The flying is really cool too!

I have a phone case with a plastic bumper and a printed metal plate across the back. The plastic broke a while ago and since the same one wasn’t available anymore, I bought a case very similar to it with a blank plate that can have sublimation printing put on it.

And it has been just sitting in my ‘I’ll get to it someday’ pile for about a year, lol.

Well, I finally got to it! I needed something to work on for the Rebelle Discord Server Saturday morning Paint Along, and since I was finished with the portrait I’d been working on, I picked this.

The first attempt was awkward in extreme as I attempted watercolors and realized that it wasn’t at all what I wanted. So I started experimenting with Rebelle’s fluid dynamics and how to use water to erode impasto paint, combined it with the new ray traced metallic layer option and eventually wound up with this. I love it!

There was a bit of a hiccup with the sublimation process that made the finished plates a little off color and blurry, but it’s still beautiful!
